Learners, tutors, and staff at LCN’s annual International Dinner
The Literacy Council of Norristown provides instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE), English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), and GED (high school equivalency) to adult learners in our community via classes and volunteer tutors.
Our vision is to help create a community with an increased level of English literacy, and an organization enthusiastically called upon to provide English literacy improvement services without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Our mission is to empower those adults who seek to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, or who are learning English as a foreign language. Through a network of local volunteers, we provide one-on-one tutoring or small group classes at little or no cost to students in need.
LCN is in the Norristown Patch Nonprofit Spotlight!
Norristown is filled with an abundance of nonprofit organizations that are working to make our neighborhoods safer, stronger, and more educated.
The Norristown Men of Excellence, EDU19401, the Carver Center, and the Norristown Project are just a few examples of the outstanding organizations working to improve the community in wide variety of ways, from education and environmental awareness to youth empowerment.
